Nuts and Bolts

The first Nuts and Bolts Day - Your Issues' was held on Tuesday 27th of November at the University of Technology, Sydney City Campus and was attended by over 26 University Disability Staff.

The aim of the day was to bring all disability practitioners/officers/workers and managers from NSW/ACT Universities together to -

Discuss and work issues;
Meet with other disability practitioners and network;
Work out ways of working better together; and
See what can be done.

The day consisted of seven informal workshops, an extended lunch and a "Plenary: where to from here" the original program can be found here.

Was held on Wednesday 15th October at UTS, Broadway Campus.

Skill development for staff

A look at what skills are needed by all staff, academic and non-academic, to deal with students with a disability within the University Environment and how those skills can be best developed.

Mental Health Workshop

This workshop will help you to identify the indicators of stress, depression and other early signs of Mental illnesses in your colleagues and how you can help them.

A panel will discuss methods of advocacy for disability access and services, with input and questions from the audience.

A look at how we can all do our jobs better and more professionally and hopefully with less stress.

What documentation should student have before they can access services? What are the inns and outs that you should be aware of surrounding student documentation?
