Teaching & Curriculum Development

We aim to ensure the provision of basic and continuing education to prepare medical professionals, allied health professionals and other staff to provide support services to people with developmental disabilities.


 Currently CDDS staff:

  • Teach at the University of Sydney in the Graduate Medical Program and College of Health Sciences,

  • Teach at the University of Western Sydney in the Faculty of Health Sciences,

  • Teach at the Australian Catholic University,

  • Supervise post graduate students,

  • Present a course to speech pathology students entitled "Communication Impairment in Special Populations." This is a new initiative at the School of Communication Disorders and Speech Sciences at the University of Sydney.
    It involves team teaching with people with a disability.

In addition:

    The following workshops have been presented to allied health professionals as part of continuing education programs.

  • Communication assessment for adults with a developmental disability. Choice making and people with intellectual disability.

  • The Centre has also developed specific training programs in response to requests from overseas service providers.
